Project Overview
In diverse e-commerce markets like India, uniform national pricing penalizes purchasing power in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, while unconstrained Cash-on-Delivery (COD) creates catastrophic Return-to-Origin (RTO) rates. Running duplicate stores for different regions introduces immense operational complexity. I conceived and built Lokally to provide regional pricing, location-based storefront banners, and granular COD controls inside a single Shopify store.
The Problem
Shopify merchants historically had to maintain multiple regional stores or rely on client-side coupon workarounds that failed at checkout. Additionally, high-fraud pincodes could not be isolated from COD payment options without custom Enterprise scripting.
Solution & Approach
I engineered the app using Shopify Functions and Theme App Extensions (Online Store 2.0). Pricing logic executes natively server-side during the checkout evaluation cycle, ensuring tamper-proof price adjustments. Merchants configure region groups (by 19,000+ Indian pincodes or custom zones) and define pricing overrides, payment method rules (hiding COD), and localized banners from a unified dashboard.
